OAKLAND, June 23, 2022—OneGoal Bay Area, an organization dedicated to closing the degree divide in the Bay Area, has welcomed Aigerim Shorman, Senior Director of Product Management at Meta; Dr. Mark White, Associate Director of BioPharma Product Marketing at Bio-Rad Laboratories; and Ysbrant Marcelis, Development Partner at Commerce Ventures, to its advisory board. As board members, Ms. Shorman, Dr. White, and Mr. Marcelis will advise OneGoal on resource growth and development and board expansion, as it seeks to serve more students throughout the Bay Area.
“Access to higher education is the most critical solution to the economic divide we are witnessing today,” said Ms. Shorman. A former teacher with Teach For America in Los Angeles, Aigerim brings both a deep knowledge of education as well as expertise in scaling organizations and technology, to her role as a board member. Aigerim is the General Manager for Avatars Group at Meta, where she also led the Advertiser Products team responsible for the majority of Meta’s revenue. Prior to Meta, Aigerim was a Co-Founder and CEO of Triptrotting, a Google Ventures-backed startup, where she secured $2M funding and oversaw the launch of 3 global products.
“I believe OneGoal’s mission to close the degree divide is one of the most impactful and long-lasting ways to address inequality in the US,” said Dr. White. Mark was born and raised in the Bay Area by two educators, who instilled in him the belief in education as a tool to unlock opportunities for any individual. Mark has played a key role in the development of multiple core life science technology platforms alongside a multidisciplinary team of biologists and engineers at Bio-Rad and previously at Berkeley Lights Inc.
“OneGoal’s approach to bridging the education divide is one of the most innovative models for addressing the hurdles facing many students today,” shared Ysbrant Marcelis. Ysbrant is a partner at Commerce Ventures, where he is focused on corporate development, portfolio value creation, and thematic investment activities. Prior to Commerce Ventures, Ysbrant led enterprise strategy and business development initiatives at Vantiv (now Worldpay), served as SVP & Director of Global Digital Strategy at Citigroup, and started his career in management consulting with Booz Allen Hamilton.
“I am thrilled to welcome such talented local leaders to our board and look forward to the continued impact Aigerim, Mark, and Ysbrant will make in building OneGoal’s community of champions as we scale throughout the Bay Area,” said Krismin Inocentes Bell, Executive Director of OneGoal Bay Area. “As we deepen and expand our program, I know I’ll learn a ton from these leaders’ expertise in product development, strategic growth, and communications. As advocates for postsecondary access and success, Aigerim, Mark. and Ysbrant bring key perspectives that will help us achieve our mission.”
