UChicago Inclusive

Economy Lab Study

UChicago Inclusive Economy Lab conducted a rigorous and independent evaluation of our program’s impact on students’ postsecondary outcomes.

The researchers compared OneGoal Fellows in Chicago with students with similar academic profiles and socioeconomic backgrounds and found evidence that OneGoal has a positive and statistically significant effect on postsecondary enrollment, persistence, and graduation.

“The results are highly encouraging across a broad swath of academic outcomes, suggesting that OneGoal’s interventions have important potential for designing a pathway toward greater postsecondary success for more of the City's young people, including Black and Latinx students, who are disproportionately underserved.”

OneGoal’s Cumulative Impact:

Comparison of Highest Level of Education Achieved

UChicago Inclusive Economy Lab found that OneGoal has a significant, cumulative impact on students’ academic outcomes beginning in high school. Compared to their peers, more OneGoal Fellows completed high school, enrolled in college, and ultimately earned their degrees.

Note: The projections in the chart above assume any student who completed high school, but did not initially enroll in college within six months, will at no point be part of the “Some College” or “College Degree” groups.
